Turning sports cars into supercars has been a specialty of the Hennessey Performance team for almost thirty years. The company also specializes in helping elevate supercars with hypercar levels of power and performance. And the Audi R8 Spyder 2020 is another example of this amazing tuning.
Hennessey made history in 2010 with the Venom GT, a model based on the Lotus Elise chasis. At that time it was the fastest production car achieving 435 km/h and beating the Koenigsegg Agera R’s record, but which was later beaten by the Agera RS.
John Hennessey, CEO of Hennessey Performance Engineering: “Most people know us for our performance improvements in American muscle cars, but we also apply the same engineering and design excellence to European supercars like the Audi R8 and its Italian cousin, the Lamborghini Huracán. “
Se pueden observar los dos enormes turbos adheridos al motor en la zona trasera del vehículo.
A good example is the Audi R8 V10 Plus. At 562 HP, the naturally aspirated Audi R8 V10 is no slouch. It does zero to hundred in less than four seconds. HPE also known as Hennessey Performance Engineering, adds two Precision twin ball turbochargers to take the V10 to a whopping 912 HP, blasting from 0 – 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds. The quarter mile is performed in 9.8 seconds, reaching 233 km/h. To realize how brutal this number is, we must compare. And it is that ‘hypercars’ like the McLaren P1, Ferrari LaFerrari or the Porsche 918 Spyder make the quarter mile in the same time: 9.8 seconds.
Not only does this tuning feature a huge engine overhaul, but it also features a steel exhaust pipe that delivers a brutal sound.
This Audi R8 Spyder Performance by Hennessey wears a spectacular paint, the Kemora Gray.
Now, the price of this machine starts from 200,000 euros that the Audi R8 Spyder Performance costs as standard. Of course, the 355 hp that the Hennessey tuning adds and the enormous sound that comes out of its tailpipes cost 79,500 euros more. With a total price of 279,500 euros we could compare it with supercars like the Porsche 911 Turbo S or the McLaren 720s. But it is that its 912 hp excel, reaching the level of ‘hypercars’ such as the Lykan Hypersport or the Ferrari LaFerrari.
Without a doubt, Hennessey Performance Engineering has once again, done an impressive job with this Audi R8 V10 Spyder Performance 2020.
